The aim of the revival was to create an intense, but fun racing atmosphere without carving hours every weekend to make things happen. Event lobbies are aimed to be completed in two hours or less.
Practice normally lasts around 40 minutes, with qualifying being allotted 10 minutes. The sprint races follows, scheduled to 15 minutes each. A 10-minute intermission is scheduled between races 2 and 3 to allow drivers a chance to reset before the final race of the event.
The top 6 finishers from the feature race are inverted to compose the sprint race grid.
To keep things simple, the series is launching as a fixed setup series. Changes such as the topic of setup restrictions will be voted on between seasons to make sure the field has a voice in future seasons.
For season 1, no drop rounds will be available, but will be evaluated for future seasons.
VRR uses a standard points system across all of its competitions. Points are awarded in a 15-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 with a bonus point being available for pole position in race 1, and fastest lap for each race.
As part of VRR's revival year, all of its competitions scheduled during 2025 will permit 1 fast repair per race for all drivers. After 2025, the allowance will be left to a competitor vote.
Yes, all VRR road course events will always use standing starts on road courses when acceptable. Eliminating formation lap crashes was an important factor when developing regulations for the revival calendar.
Exceptions to this rule are normally in regards to tracks like Daytona and other rovals with banked start/finish lines.
Yes, a drive through penalty will be assessed to drivers that reach 16, and 24 incident points, with drivers disqualified after reaching 30 incident points.
Fuel will be set to roughly 50%, give or take based on iRacing's recommended Balance of Performance updates.
Competitors will be given 2 sets of tires per race, allowing for a tire change if needed during any of the races in the season. Pit stops, however, are not enforced or required.
