The aim of the revival was to create an intense, but fun racing atmosphere without carving hours every weekend to make things happen. Races are estimated to take around 75 minutes at the longer end, and less than 60 minutes at the shorter end, especially for road course races.
Road course races are scheduled to 150 km (~94 miles), while ovals are scheduled to 250 km (~155 miles)
To keep things simple, the series is relaunching as a fixed setup series. Changes such as the topic of setup restrictions will be voted on between seasons to make sure the field has a voice in future seasons.
The Coca-Cola IndyCar Series gives drivers four drop rounds, where lowest placed results get dropped throughout the season.
VRR uses a standard points system across all of its competitions, largely based on the FIM world championship points scale. Points are awarded in a 25-20-16-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 fashion, with a bonus point being available for pole position, fastest lap, leading a lap, and leading the most laps.
As part of VRR's revival year, all of its competitions scheduled during 2025 will permit 1 fast repair per race for all drivers. After 2025, the allowance will be left to a competitor vote.
Yes, VRR road course events will always use standing starts on road courses when acceptable. Eliminating formation lap crashes was an important factor when developing regulations for the revival calendar.
Yes. For oval events, there will be a disqualification limit of 17x. For road courses, there will be a disqualification limit of 24x.
Fuel will be limited to 11.1 gallons (42 liters) for every race. Oval races will permit 5 sets of tires, and road courses will permit 8 sets of tires.
For road course events, it will be mandatory to use both the primary and alternate tire compounds, and each driver will start the race on the same compound they set their fastest qualifying lap on.
